Ryan McMahon's solo home run in the sixth inning proved to be the difference as the Colorado Rockies beat the Miami Marlins 7-4 on Thursday night.

The Rockies, who have won three straight games, improved to 17-27 on the season.

The Marlins, who have lost four straight games, fell to 15-29 on the season.

McMahon's home run came off Marlins reliever Anthony Bender. It was McMahon's 10th home run of the season.

The Rockies took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a RBI single by Charlie Blackmon.

The Marlins tied the game in the second inning on a RBI single by Jesus Sanchez.

The Rockies regained the lead in the third inning on a RBI single by C.J. Cron.

The Marlins tied the game again in the fourth inning on a RBI groundout by Miguel Rojas.

The Rockies broke the game open in the sixth inning with a six-run rally.

Brendan Rodgers started the rally with a RBI single.

Yonathan Daza followed with a RBI double.

Randal Grichuk then hit a two-run double.

McMahon capped the rally with his solo home run.

The Marlins scored two runs in the seventh inning on a RBI single by Sanchez and a RBI groundout by Rojas.

However, the Rockies bullpen was able to hold on for the win.

Carlos Estevez pitched a scoreless eighth inning.

Daniel Bard pitched a scoreless ninth inning to earn his eighth save of the season.

The Rockies will face the Marlins again on Friday night.
