Much of the U.S. will see a break from the heat this weekend.

Highs in the 80s and 90s will be widespread across the central U.S. this weekend, but that’s well below the triple-digit temperatures much of the region has seen all week.

Temps to rebound next week

The break won’t last, unfortunately.

Temperatures will start to rise again on Monday, with many cities seeing highs in the 90s. By the middle of next week, triple-digit temperatures will return to the central U.S.

The heat is expected to stick around for several days, so make sure to stay hydrated and take precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses.

This heat wave is a reminder that summer is officially here.

The solstice, the longest day of the year, is next Tuesday. After that, the days will start to get shorter and the nights will start to get cooler.
